Melissa Moore was born October 4, 1984 to Mark and Tina Moore. She graduated from Del City High School in 2004. Her senior year she was named to the Oklahoma Fast pitch Coaches Association All-State Softball team as well as being a two-time 6A State Champion in shot put. Melissa was recognized her junior and senior years for Oklahoma Track and Field Big All-City selection. She set the Del City High School and Mid-State Conference record with a throw of 44ft, 9 inches. She also won the shot put category at the Great Southwest Classic in Albuquerque with a throw of 45ft, 1inch. Out of high school Melissa attended the University of Oklahoma on a softball scholarship. After leaving OU she attended Rose State in 2006. Her sophomore year she hit 16 home runs with a .480 batting average, leading her to receive NJCAA All-American honors. After finishing her two years at Rose State, Melissa received a full-ride softball scholarship to play at Oklahoma City University. At OCU, Melissa played under legendary head coach Phil McSpadden, who currently holds the record for most games won in softball history. In 2007, During Melissa’s senior season at OCU she hit 19 home runs and earned All-American honors once more. She graduated in 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. After graduation, Melissa coached the 98’ 12 and under team with the Oklahoma Force organization for 3 years. She has had the opportunity to see many of the players she coached go on to accept collegiate softball scholarships. While coaching she began her electrical career by becoming one of the few female oil field electricians at Integrated Drilling Equipment here in Oklahoma City. Today, Melissa is a civilian Aircraft Electrician for the Department of Defense at Tinker Air Force Base. She works on the KC-135 aircraft, which stands as the largest squadron on base. She feels incredibly honored to help those that serve and protect our country.
