The Rose State College softball team extended their winning momentum on Sunday, sweeping a doubleheader against Neosho County Community College at home. The Raiders relied on a pair of masterful complete-game performances in the circle to secure a 1-0 victory in the opener and a 6-1 win in the nightcap.
Game 1: Mason Flawless in Pitchers' Duel
The opening contest was a classic defensive battle that remained scoreless through five innings. Rose State starter Amelia Mason was the story of the game, stifling the Panthers' offense from start to finish. Mason tossed a complete-game shutout, surrendering just three hits while racking up 10 strikeouts.
The Raiders finally broke the deadlock in the bottom of the sixth inning. After Grace Rumbaugh reached base to set the stage, Isabell Daniels delivered the clutch RBI single that drove in the game's only run.
Shay Compton led the offensive effort with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate and a stolen base. The Raiders' defense was equally sharp, backed by two double plays from first baseman Kinley Duehning to keep Neosho County off the board.
Game 2: Lloyd's Big Bat Powers Raiders to Sweep
In the second game of the afternoon, Rose State's bats came alive to support another stellar pitching performance. Avery Lloyd was the catalyst for the Raiders, finishing 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, and four RBIs.
Rose State wasted no time, taking a 1-0 lead in the first. They added two more in the third and one in the fourth before putting the game away with a two-run fifth inning. Trinity Baker helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Madalynn Belle McFarland added two hits and two runs scored.
On the rubber, Baker was dominant. Much like Mason in Game 1, Baker went the full seven innings, allowing only one run on three hits and striking out seven Panthers to seal the 6-1 victory.
Up Next
With the sweep, the Raiders continue to solidify their standing in the region. Rose State will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup as they hit the road on Tuesday to take on Labette.
