Raider Softball Breezes Past Western

Raider Softball took care of business in Altus on Tuesday afternoon against Western Oklahoma State College.
 
Game one; Western 6, Raiders 23 (5 innings)
 
Raider Softball wasted no time in game one against the Pioneers. The put up big numbers in three of the five innings of play.
 
Raiders got on the board in the top of the first inning after Caty Baack grounded out, scoring one run, Kaysie Lee doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Skylar Wells singled, scoring one run, Madison Barnes doubled, scoring one run, Kortney Griffith drew a walk, scoring one run, Lauren Holmes singled, scoring two runs, Mia Corres singled, scoring one run, and Baack tripled, scoring one run.
 
Second inning was no different as the Raiders scored six more runs on seven hits. Holmes tripled, scoring three runs, Corres singled, scoring one run, Baack doubled, scoring one run, and Morgan Thomas singled, scoring one run.
 
There was lull in the third inning, but the in the fourth RSC scored seven runs on seven hits. Thomas doubled, scoring one run, Wells doubled, scoring one run, Barnes singled, scoring one run, Griffith homered to right field, scoring three runs, and Corres tripled, scoring one run.
 
The Pioneers attempted a comeback in the bottom of the fifth, knocking in five runs. But they couldn't catch enough wind to break up the run rule.
 
Thomas earned the win, surrendering five hits and five runs (four earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two. Addison Wilson and Abby Turnpaugh each appeared in relief in the last two innings to close out the game.
 
Raiders piled up 23 hits in the game. Holmes, Barnes, Griffith, Thomas, Baack, Lee, Wells, and Corres each collected multiple hits for the team. Holmes led the team in runs batted in with four in her five at bats.
 
Game two; Western 0, Raiders 9
 
Game two started out with some fireworks with a three run homer to center field by Dallas Morrison on the sixth pitch of the at-bat put the Raiders on the board in the top of the first.
 
A double by Mia Corres added to the lead to 5-0 in the top of the second inning.
 
Three more runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 9-0. Caty Baack hit a solo home run to left field, and Madison Barnes doubled, scoring two runs.
 
Allison Lee started and completed the game for the Raiders. She only gave up one hit and zero runs over the full seven innings, striking out one and walking one.
 
RSC racked up 12 hits in the game. Corres, Jordan Anthony-Baade, and Wells all went two for four. Morrison provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the team with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter hit .500 in game two. She also led the team with two of the overall four walks.
