Raider Baseball Finishes Three Game Weekend Series With a Walk Off Win

Series Game One; Barton 14, Raiders 7
 
 
Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but Raider Baseball fell to Barton Baseball 14-7 at on Friday in game one of a three game series. Barton Baseball collected 13 hits, while RSC only had 10.
 
The Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Joseph Heard hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Silas Voegely doubled, scoring two runs.
 
Barton Baseball scored one run in the top of the second on a solo home run to left field. Then scored again in the fourth with a solo home run to right field. Barton tied it up at  three in the top of the fifth with a double that scored one.
 
Voegely singled in the bottom of the fifth giving RSC the lead back, 4-3.
 
Barton Baseball flipped the game completely in the top of the sixth, scoring seven runs on three hits to take a 10-4 lead.
 
Raiders scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a home run to right field by Jordan Dehoyos after a 6-pitch at-bat.
 
Isaac Thornton stepped on the bump first for the Raiders, allowing five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking three. Drew Sheppard took the loss. The right-handed pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, surrendering seven runs (one earned) on two hits, striking out one and walking three.
 
RSC Baseball amassed 10 hits in the game. Voegely made the most of their chances at the plate. The number seven hitter led the team with three hits in four at bats. Cole Barton and Wyatt Fielding each also collected multiple hits. 
 
 
Series Game Two; Barton 4, Raiders 1
 
Even though Raider Baseball collected five hits to the Cougar's four, they still fell 4-1 on Saturday in game two of the three game series.
 
Raiders were the first to get on the board in the second inning when Logan Jeske drew a walk, scoring one run.
 
An error gave Barton Baseball the lead, 3-1, in the top of the fourth.
 
Jacob Hogan took the loss, going three and one-third innings, surrendering three runs (zero earned) on one hit, striking out two and walking four.
 
Jeske led the team with one run batted in. He went 1-for-1 on the day.
 
 
Series Game Three; Barton 6, Raiders 7
 
It came down to the wire in game three at Rose State College, as RSC Baseball grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-6, over the Barton Cougars. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the ninth when Evan Mustari singled, scoring one run, and taking the victory.
 
Tyler Root struck out 11 batters on the day. He also gave up five hits and three runs over six innings while walking one.
 
Raiders jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Joseph Heard doubled, scoring two runs, and Brodie Hinson singled, scoring one run.
 
Barton tied the game in the top of the third thanks to a single and an error.
 
In the bottom of the fifth, Gerardo Gonzales singled, scoring one run, giving the RSC the edge, 4-3.
 
Barton captured the lead back, 6-4, in the top of the seventh when the Cougars singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored another.
 
Raiders took the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the ninth thanks to singles by Cole Barton, and Mustari.
 
Tyler Root struck out 11 batters on the day. The starter gave up five hits and three runs over six innings while walking one. Dillon Palmer earned the win for the Raiders. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one.
 
RSC Baseball accumulated 14 hits in the game. Barton and Hinson each collected three hits. Heard and Hinson were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs each. Glynn Wilson collected two hits in six at bats. Barton stole two bases.
