The Rose State Raiders offense was firing on all cylinders Tuesday, racking up 12 hits to secure a commanding 14-8 road victory over Western Oklahoma State College.
Offensive Fireworks
Rose State's lineup proved relentless, particularly during a massive fifth-inning surge. Trailing 4-1, the Raiders flipped the script by plating six runs in the frame. The definitive blow came from Karter Winebarger, who crushed a three-run home run to left field to catapult Rose State into a lead they would never relinquish.
The Raiders' attack was spearheaded by Stephen Pattison and Trent Prosperi, who both enjoyed three-hit performances. Pattison was a constant threat, recording a double and two singles while driving in three runs. Phoenix Meza also flexed his power, launching a solo home run in the sixth inning as part of a 2-for-3 day where he also drew three walks.
Rose State showed elite discipline and speed throughout the contest:
-
Plate Discipline: The Raiders tallied 9 walks, led by three each from Meza and Tanner Wallace.
-
Base Running: The team was aggressive on the paths, totaling 6 stolen bases. Both Pattison and Connor Atkinson swiped multiple bags in the win.
Staff Effort on the Mound
It was a "Johnny Wholestaff" afternoon for the Raiders, as nine different pitchers contributed to the victory. Ethan Hedrick earned the start, while Caden Janvrin, Luke Hankins, Colton Thorpe, Ganon Mullins, Donnie Sizemore, Cooper Davidson, Aden Henke, and Gavin Finley all provided key relief appearances to shutdown the Pioneers' late-inning threats.
Conference Play Looms
With the momentum of this high-scoring victory behind them, the Raiders (14-8) now turn their focus to the most critical stretch of the season.
Rose State will enjoy a brief break before returning to action for opening day of conference play on Thursday, February 26. The Raiders will host Eastern Oklahoma State College at Raider Baseball Field in Midwest City, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
