Raider Softball takes care of business against Southern Nazarene University JV in a night game on Tuesday.
Game one; SNU JV 1, Raiders 12
Raiders came out hot, scoring 10 runs in the first inning.
Morgan Thomas singled, scoring two runs,
Kaysie Lee singled, scoring one run,
Caty Baack hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored,
Kortney Griffith singled, scoring two runs,
Lauren Holmes doubled, scoring two runs, and
Mia Corres homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Addison Wilson earned the win. Wilson gave up four hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Thomas threw one inning of no-run ball in relief. She gave up one hit, striking out one and walking one.
RSC piled up 15 hits in the game. Griffith and Holmes were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three. Griffith went 3-for-4 at the plate as the leadoff hitter led the team with three runs batted in.
Skylar Wells, Lee, and Corres each collected multiple hits also.
Game two; SNU JV 2, Raiders 13
Raiders seven run fourth inning was a big factor in their 13-2 win in game two over SNU JV.
A single by
Morgan Thomas put the Raiders on the board in the bottom of the first.
RSC added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after
Mackinzie DeLong doubled, and
Kortney Griffith grounded out, each scoring one run.
SNU JV made a small push in the top of the third, collecting two runs, making the score 3-2.
RSC answered back by adding three runs in the bottom of the third inning on two hits.
Mia Corres hit a solo home run to center field, and
Skylar Wells doubled, scoring two runs.
Raiders didn't stop there, in the fourth inning RSC dropped seven runs on SNU JV. Corres doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, DeLong singled, scoring two runs, Griffith hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and
Lauren Holmes doubled, scoring one run.
Keylee Beckwith got it done in the circle. The righty surrendered four hits and two runs over the complete five innings, striking out six and walking one.
DeLong and Corres each drove in three runs. Five RSC hitters collected multiple hits in game two. Raiders had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating four walks for the game.
Raider Softball takes on Neosho County Community College on Monday, March 11
