Raider Softball Falls Despite Out Hitting Crowder College

 Game one; Crowder 9, Raiders 4 
 
Crowder College RoughRiders took the lead early in game one with three runs in the first inning.
 
Mia Corres homered to left field, which helped the Raiders tie the game at three in the top of the third.
 
Crowder College took the lead back in the bottom of the third, scoring two more runs.
 
RSC battled back in the top of the fourth, scraping across one more run. But the RoughRiders charged on getting that run back in the bottom of the fifth, then continuing to add more in the next two innings. 
 
Keylee Beckwith stepped in the circle first, giving up eight hits and seven runs (six earned) over four innings, striking out three and walking three. Abby Turnpaugh came in as relief for the two remaining innings, surrendering one hit and two runs (one earned), striking out one and walking one.

Lauren Holmes and Kortney Griffith were a force together in the lineup, as they both collected two hits each while hitting back-to-back. Corres drove the middle of the lineup, leading the team with three runs batted in. She went 2-for-3 on the day.
 
Game two; Crowder 6, Raiders 1
 
Even though the Raiders collected eleven hits to Crowder's seven, they still fell 6-1 in game two.
 
The RoughRiders jumped back in where they left off in game one, scoring two in the bottom of the first. They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after scoring three more.
 
Allison Lee opened and closed the game for the Raiders. She gave up six hits and six runs (three earned) over the full six innings, striking out two and walking three. 
 
Lauren Holmes remained a force to be reckoned with in game two. She went 2-for-4 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with one run batted in.
 
Raider Softball will remain home with a couple series, their next being on Tuesday evening against Southern Nazarene University JV. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 5:30pm. Click here for Raider Softball's full schedule.
