Raider Baseball Takes One From The Trojans In Conference Opener

Raider Baseball has hard fought first conference series with the Seminole State College Trojans. Raiders take game one on Friday, but the overall series goes to the Trojans with their two wins on Saturday.
 
Game one (Friday); Trojans 4, Raiders 6
 
Despite seeing their 5-run lead whittled down by the end, RSC still held off for a 6-4 victory in game one of their conference series with Seminole State College. 
 
The Raiders opened the scoring in the first after Blake Seefeldt homered to left field, scoring three runs. RSC then added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Gerardo Gonzales homered to right field, and Wyatt Fielding singled, each scoring one run.
 
The Trojans tried to chip away at the RSC lead, scoring two runs in both the top third and the ninth.
 
Isaac Thornton earned the win. He allowed two hits and two runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out nine and walking two. Drew Sheppard appeared in relief for the Raiders gaining the save, going the last two innings. Sheppard gave up one hit and two runs (one earned), striking out three and walking no one.
 
RSC accumulated nine hits in the game. Cole Barton led the team with two hits in his four at bats. Seefeldt provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Raiders with three runs batted in. 
 
Game two (Saturday); Trojans 9, Raiders 4
 
RSC just could not keep pace with the Trojans on Saturday in game two on the three game series, losing 4-9.
 
A walk by Jordan Dehoyos put the Raiders on the board in the top of the first. But, the Trojans tie it up quickly in the bottom of the second with a homerun to left field.
 
SSC took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a single scoring a run, giving the Trojans a one run lead, 1-2.
 
In the top of the fifth inning, the Raiders come alive and score three runs off a homerun to left field off the bat of Wyatt Fielding.
 
SSC is quick to strike back, taking and holding onto the lead from the bottom of the fifth onward.
 
Nathan Mueller took the loss. Mueller went four and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking five. Dillon Palmer and Blake Seefeldt made appearences in relief for the Raiders.
 
Glynn Wilson led the team with two hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Fielding gave some pop in the middle of the lineup, with a team leading three runs batted in. 
 
Game three (Saturday); Trojans 8, Raiders 7
 
Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but RSC fell to the Trojans 8-7 in the final game of the series. Seminole collected seven hits, while the Raiders had nine. 
 
RSC got on the board in the top of the first inning after Cole Barton singled, Jordan Dehoyos singled, and Silas Voegely hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.
 
The Trojans flipped the game in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 5-3 lead.
 
In the top of the third, the Raiders took the lead back after Blake Seefeldt homered to left field. Two runs scored, giving RSC the advantage, 6-5.
 
An error in the bottom of the fifth handed the lead back over to the Trojans, 6-7.
 
Brodie Hinson singled after a 6-pitch at-bat, which helped the Raiders tie the game at seven in the top of the sixth. But the Trojans took it right back going up by one, 7-8.
 
Tyler Root to the mound as the starter. The righty went three and two-thirds innings, allowing seven runs (one earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking four. Jackson Warner took the loss, as he came in as relief. Warner went two innings, giving up two hits and one run, striking out four and walking one. Luke Cummings also made an appearance in the relief spot, going two and one-third innings, with no hits and no runs, striking out two and walking one.
 
Raiders collected nine hits in the game. Seefeldt drove the middle of the lineup, leading the team with two hits and two runs batted in.
