Rose State College Softball finished up early in Friday's doubleheader with Oklahoma Wesleyan University JV with two run-rule wins, 22-3 and 11-3.
Game one; OKWU JV 3, Raiders 22 (5 innings)
RSC Softball defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan University JV in a five-inning game one on Friday thanks in part to 14 runs in the fourth inning.
Kaysie Lee singled, scoring one run,
Caty Baack singled, scoring two runs,
Skylar Wells doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run,
Erin Doughty singled, scoring two runs,
Macy Willing doubled, scoring three runs, and Dallas Brothers homered to right field, scoring three runs.
OKWU JV got on the board in the top of the first inning after a double and a walk, each scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first, Raiders took the lead, 3-2, thanks to singles by
Morgan Thomas and
Lauren Holmes.
Base hits by
Mia Corres, Lee, and Baack helped the Raiders extend their early lead in the second.
A double by
Kortney Griffith gave RSC an even bigger lead of 8-2 in the bottom of the third inning.
Addison Wilson pitched a complete game with six hits and two three runs (two earned) over her five innings, striking out three and walking one.
Rose State accumulated 16 hits in the game one. Lee and Corres led the team in hits, going 3-for-3. Baack went 2-for-3 at the plate as they led the team with three runs batted in. Thomas and Griffith each collected multiple hits for the Raiders.
Madison Barnes led in walks with two. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting four walks for the game.
Game two; OKWU JV 3, Raiders 11 (5 innings)
Raiders got on the board in the first inning after
Keylee Beckwith homered to center field, scoring three runs.
RSC added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Oklahoma Wesleyan JV committed an error,
Mia Corres singled, and
Morgan Thomas hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.
Three more runs crossed the plate for the Raiders in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 9-0.
Jordan Anthony-Baade grounded out, scoring one run, and Thomas homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Two more runs scored in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to right field by
Skylar Wells.
Thomas stepped in the circle as the first and only pitcher for the game. She gave up two hits and one run over five innings, striking out one and walking none.
RSC collected 11 hits in the game. Corres went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Beckwith provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led runs batted in with three. Anthony-Baade,
Caty Baack, and Wells each collected multiple hits for the Raiders.
Raider Softball gets back on the road on Saturday with a three-team round robin in Poteau, Oklahoma. First taking on Southwest Tennessee Community College at 1pm, then Carl Albert State College at 3pm. Click
