Raider Softball Starts the Year With Two Wins

Game one; Labette 6, Raiders 7 (9 innings)
 
Raider Softball took their season opener in dramatic fashion, with a 7-6 walk-off victory over Labette. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the ninth when Mackinzie Delong singled, scoring one run.
 
RSC came back to win despite trailing 5-1 in the fifth.
 
RSC Softball opened the scoring in the first after Caty Baack doubled, scoring one run. Labette flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 5-1 lead.
 
A home run to center field by Dallas Brothers in the bottom of the sixth gave the Raiders three runs.
 
Mia Corres hit into a fielder's choice, which helped the Raiders tie the game at five in the bottom of the seventh.
 
A sacrifice fly by Labatte gave them the lead, 6-5, in the top of the eighth.
 
Kaysie Lee homered to center field on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, which tied the game at six in the bottom of the eighth.
 
Morgan Thomas earned the win for the Raiders. The righty surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one. Addison Wilson and Abby Turnpaugh each appeared in relief.
 
Baack went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. Brothers led the team with three runs batted in. She went 1-for-1 on the day. Delong collected two hits for the Raiders in five at bats. RSC had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game.
 
 
 
Game two; Labette 0, Raiders 11 (5 innings)
 
Keylee Beckwith struck out 11 batters as the starting pitcher. She led the Raiders in the 11-0 five inning victory over Labette in game two. Beckwith surrendered one hit and zero runs over the five innings while walking two.
 
Raiders got on the board in the bottom of the second inning after Kaysie Lee homered to center field, and Doughty singled, each scoring one run.
 
RSC scored six more runs in the third inning on the way to victory. Lee drew a walk, scoring one run, Mia Corres singled, scoring two runs, Erin Doughty drew a walk, scoring one run, Kortney Griffith hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and Lauren Holmes singled, scoring one run.
 
Holmes and Corres each collected two hits for Raider Softball. Camryn Graham, Doughty, Lee, and Corres each drove in two runs. Dallas Brothers led the team with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up six walks for the game.
