Raider Softball Firing On All Cylinders Against Vernon

Raider Softball took on the Vernon College Chaps on Tuesday afternoon in Texas. Raiders walked away with two solid wins in just ten innings of play.
 
Game one; Vernon 1, Raiders 10 (5 innings)
 
Kortney Griffith collected three hits in three at bats, as the Raiders defeated the Chaps 10-1 in game one. Griffith singled in the third inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the second inning.
 
A triple by Mia Corres put RSC Softball on the board in the top of the first.
 
They preceded to add to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Kaysie Lee singled, Caty Baack hit into a fielder's choice, Jordan Anthony-Baade grounded out, and Griffith singled, each scoring one run.
 
Keylee Beckwith earned the win, surrendering just three hits and one run over five innings, striking out five and walking two.
 
The Raiders collected 13 hits in the game. Morgan Thomas and Griffith each collected three hits. Baack and Corres each drove in two runs. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game. Corres led the team with two of the six walks. Raiders were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error, along with turning one double play in the game.
 
Game two; Vernon 2, Raiders 10 (5 innings)
 
Raiders jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Mia Corres singled, scoring one run, and Keylee Beckwith doubled, scoring two runs.
 
In the top of the second inning, RSC scored five runs on four hits. Madison Barnes singled, scoring one run, Corres singled, scoring one run, Caty Baack was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Dallas Brothers grounded out, scoring one run, and Beckwith grounded out, scoring one run.
 
The Chaps tried to battle back, scoring one run in the bottom of the first and second inning.
 
Allison Lee earned the win in game two. She surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out none and walking two.
 
Raiders collected 12 hits in the game. Corres led the team with three hits in three at bats. Beckwith went 1-for-4 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with three runs batted in. Barnes, Skylar Wells, and Kortney Griffith each collected multiple hits. The team amassed five walks, Brothers led with two walks.
