Raider Softball's late push leads to victory over Southwestern Christian University JV in game one.
Game one; Eagles JV 2, Raiders 4
RSC Softball snatched the lead late in their 4-2 victory over Southwestern Christian JV in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader.
The Eagles got on the board in the first inning after a solo home run to left field.
Kortney Griffith answered right back with a lead off home run to left to tie it up in the bottom of the first.
Raiders took the lead in the bottom of the third when Griffith grounded out, scoring one run, making it 2-1.
But Southwestern Christian JV tied the game at two in the top of the sixth.
Raiders take the lead right back in the bottom of the sixth with a series of plays.
Mackinzie DeLong takes a walk, followed by a infield single for
Mia Corres.
Camryn Graham(pinch runner for DeLong) scores from third on a wild pitch, giving RSC back the lead, 3-2.
Erin Doughty grounds out to second, scoring Corres, extending the Raiders lead to 4-2.
Addison Wilson started in the circle for game one. The starter gave up four hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking none.
Allison Lee earned the win in relief for the Raiders. The righty gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking three.
Caty Baack led the team with three hits in three at bats. Griffith and Doughty each drove in one run.
Game two; Eagles JV 0, Raiders 9 (5 innings)
Morgan Thomas drove in five runs on three hits to lead RSC Softball past Southwestern Christian JV 9-0 in game two. Thomas hit a home run to center field in the second scoring three, singled in the second scoring one, and doubled in the fourth scoring one.
The bottom of the lineup was strong for the Raiders. Thomas,
Erin Doughty, and
Skylar Wells combined for five of the team's seven hits in their victory. They scored three runs and drove in six.
Dallas Brother started it all with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first, putting the Raiders on the board first.
Seven more runs crossed the plate in the second inning to extend the lead to 8-0. Thomas homered to center field, scoring three runs, Wells hit a solo home run to center field, two errors scored one run each, and Thomas singled, scoring one run.
Keylee Beckwith started in the circle, surrendering two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one.
RSC Softball had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game.
Kortney Griffith and Doughty led the team with two free passes each.
Mia Corres stole three of the team's six stolen bases. The Raiders were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error and turned one double play.
Raider Softball will head to Weatherford, Texas on Friday for a four-game round robin in the Coyote Chillout. Click here for full schedule.
